What should be the plan for a big business bailout? (NewstalkZB)
(2 April 2020) More than 2000 New Zealand businesses have annual revenues over $80 million.
That is the baseline for "tailor-made" assistance that Finance Minister Grant Robertson has promised to provide to larger firms that are suffering from the coronavirus pandemic.
The price for some firms may be that they end up partly in state ownership.
Oliver Hartwich discusses the details with Kate Hawkesby on Newstalk ZB.

How vulnerable is NZ to extreme right populism? (Radio NZ)
(28 February 2020) Nationalist parties hold more than 10 percent of the vote in 14 countries in Europe. The German state of Thuringia is currently embroiled in a political crisis after the centre-right Christian Democrats broke a long-held understanding to join forces with the right-wing Alternative for Germany Party.
Speaking on Radio New Zealand's podcast, The Detail, Executive Director of The New Zealand Initiative, Oliver Hartwich says there is a chance that we could see a rise in populist parties here in New Zealand.
He says, "In some ways I think we have to look at countries like Germany, like Trump's America, and ask ourselves - could that happen here, and what can we do to counter that?"

Oliver Hartwich speaks to Mike Hosking on Newstalk ZB about how a well-designed road pricing system for New Zealand could reduce our shocking congestion problems. The report focuses on the international experiences around congestion pricing, for example the use of road charges encouraging motorists to avoid travelling at peak times in busy routes, and shows how it could be implemented here.
